Chinrests
Our chinrests fit many musicians, as the position of their "bowl" is neither too far out nor too far in. It has a shape that is not too deep and a discreet "edge" that enables an effortless hold.
A special feature of our chinrests are the three different heights available. In addition to the "normal" low model, there is a "medium" model that is 5 mm higher and a "high" model that is 10 mm higher.
The higher models are very helpful for anyone with a slightly longer neck. To prevent the shoulder from being pulled up, the correct overall height must be achieved together with the shoulder support. However, a shoulder rest that is set very high is often wobbly, and a violin or viola that is a little lower is much more comfortable to play.
The chinrests are available with nickel-plated brass screws or with titanium screws. The latter are not only lighter and more durable, but can also prevent allergic skin reactions.
They are available in ebony, boxwood and rosewood.
Rosin
Many musicians have been using our pure and natural pine rosin for over 20 years. The only additive it contains is some beeswax, but no potentially problematic chemicals.
The hardest, lightest rosin #1 is excellent for good violin bows with a light response.
If you need a little more adhesion, for example for the viola, the slightly softer rosin #2 is ideal.
Our rosin #3 is great for the cello and generally when you need a lot of adhesion.
The double cloth packaging protects the rosin and also helps to keep your hands clean.
Hair Gauge
To give a bow the best possible playing characteristics, the elasticity of its hair should exactly match the elasticity and bend of the stick. The elasticity of the hair depends mainly on its volume, as the modulus of elasticity of horsehair is fairly uniform.
Our reference thickness gauge measures this volume, also on the bow, with the greatest precision in mm². The three measuring ranges are optimized for violin/viola, cello and bass bows.
The reference thickness gauge is made of solid stainless steel and is therefore indestructible.
It should not be missing in any violin maker's workshop.
